Defending Democracy by Protecting Your Right to Vote

Common Cause Pennsylvania will walk us through ways to protect the right to vote in the November elections.
During our presentation you will learn a little more about Common Cause PA and the work they are doing to defend our democracy. The countdown to the midterm elections has begun, and there are ways you can help protect our right to vote, here in Pike County! We will be breaking down what poll monitors do, the importance of poll monitors, your rights + safety, and common issues you might see at the polls!
Leading this presentation will be Jill Greene our Program Manager, and Sam Trobe our Election Protection Organizer.
Common Cause is a non-partisan grass-roots organization that works every day to strengthen our democracy. Working to ensure that we hold our governing bodies and elected officials accountable and that they serve all of their constituents. Cultivating and building collective power at both the local and statewide levels to help ensure that our elections remain free, fair, and accessible to everyone.

In 2026 we face an existential election for the future of democracy. We will focus on issues of concern to residents of Pike County, PA and on electing progressives in line with our values to local, state and national positions.
In addition, all of the candidates endorsed by DVA! won their positions in the 2026 Primary Election--the wave is coming. We hope you will consider running for a local position in 2027.
Get involved with DVA! Attend our monthly Get-Togethers (generally 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6-7:30 pm) at the new DVA! Community Engagement Center at 315 Broad Street in Milford. Visit our Facebook Page, subscribe to our weekly newsletter (below). Donate. Volunteer in vote-by-mail voter registrations and campaign activities. Fill out our volunteer application to get started.
Community Engagement Center: We have a year-round space in downtown Milford for community activities. We have a Free Store for early parenting supplies (diapers, wipes, etc.). A number of clubs (youth group, art, book, mahjong, knitting/crochet, drum circle, chess, ukulele, etc) on weekdays. See the Community Center page link at the bottom of this page for a description of the Center and how you can help. Click here for a local TV story about the DVA! Center. In addition to the clubs' schedule, the Center is currently open for drop-in Friday 12:30-3 pm.
